Former F1 driver and Sky Sports expert Karun Chandhok summed up the 2022 season for the Mercedes team, sharing his opinion on Lewis Hamilton`s rivalry with George Russell.


Chandhok believes Hamilton`s poor performances in the first half of the season were down to a lack of motivation.


I am sure that at the start of the season Lewis simply did not have the motivation. And I understand him well. It all reminded me of Senna in 1993. We are talking about the best driver of his generation, he arrives at the first race of the season, and then he realizes: God, in qualifying I can be in the third row at most. Where can you get motivation in such a situation? But then by the stage in Barcelona they managed to begin to improve the situation and he accepted the challenge.


As for the situation at Mercedes, things looked very good for George Russell at the start of the season - he was regularly ahead of Lewis in qualifying. I think the wake-up call was when in the middle of the season Lewis was able to improve and George had a whole series of Grand Prix in which he could not get ahead of his teammate. George probably thought something like: Oh, I think I woke up the beast.


However, to George`s credit, he was able to return to the game predicted by 1x2 prediction morata: the idea of playing with ronaldo and dybala excited me all summer towards the end of the season - and the highlight was the victory in Brazil. And now I`m extremely curious how Hamilton`s fight with Russell will develop next year, " Chandok said.
